Attic Theatrics produced the same play twice in the same year! In fact there was only about 12 weeks between the two runs. The Summer 2024 cast and crew opened The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood on July 12th and ran for 5 performances at The Wild Rose Moon. This time we performed the show proscenium style with a more typical scenic and costume design for a play.

Attic Theatrics first show was The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood by Mary Lynn Dobson at The Wild Rose Moon in downtown Plymouth Indiana in the Spring of 2024. Designed In-The-Round, this unique experience was something Marshall County had not seen before. A very minimal approach to the material toyed with the idea of object theatre. This 7 performance run SOLD OUT and encouraged a remount in the Summer with a completely different cast and approach to the script.

Gipson was asked to guest direct, design, and choreograph the 2017 theatrical season at Purdue University Northwest. He choose to bring to life a favorite of his, The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood. 20 PNW students worked in collaboration to bring this farce to life. This In-The-Round experience was new to the community and even toured to both PNW Campuses over 3 weekends.

“It was an honor to be brought on to create the 2017 Theatre season for Purdue University Northwest.”

The first show Gipson chose to do was Little Shop of Horrors. Zachary and the team even worked on making their own original puppet for the character of Audrey Two.

Back in 2015 Gipson’s first producing company, The Ensemble Theatre Company, partnered with the Chicago Street Theater and together they co-produced The New Mel Brooks Musical YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. The team sold out over a dozen performances and became the most nominated piece of theatre in Northwest Indiana. It was nominated for 17 NIETF awards and won 10 of them including “Best Musical of the Year”. The show was remounted in the largest venue in NWI, at the time, the STAR PLAZA in early 2016.
